Airplex Tonneau Cover Seal Kit
Replacement EPDM rubber rail and tailgate seals to restore a weathertight fit as your cover ages. A stiff or cracked seal is the most common reason water starts getting into a covered bed — this kit fixes that without replacing the whole cover.
Shop This KitOverview
Every Airplex tonneau cover relies on rail and tailgate seals to keep rain, dust, and road spray out of the bed. Like any rubber weatherstripping, those seals slowly stiffen and lose their compression over years of sun and temperature cycles — the same way a car door seal eventually needs replacing. This kit gives you fresh EPDM rubber seals sized to match the rail and tailgate seal channels used across the Airplex lineup.
Replacing worn seals is the single most effective fix for a cover that used to seal tight but has started letting water through, and it’s a fraction of the cost and effort of replacing the entire cover.
What’s Included
Rail Seal
Full-length EPDM rubber seal strip sized for the side rail channel on Airplex hard, low profile, and hinged covers.
Tailgate Seal
A separate tailgate seal strip that seats against the tailgate edge to block water from the rear of the bed.
Adhesive Backing
Both seals use a weatherproof adhesive backing for a clean, no-tools installation into the existing channel.
Install Guide
A printed installation guide walks through removing the old seal and seating the new one evenly.
Checking Compatibility
This seal kit is sized to fit the rail and tailgate seal channels used across the Airplex hard folding, soft roll-up, retractable, low profile, and hinged cover lineup. If you’re not sure which seal profile your cover uses, check the model name on your original packaging or email us your truck and cover style and we’ll confirm before you order.
How Installation Works
- Remove the old seal. Peel the worn seal out of the channel, cleaning off any old adhesive residue.
- Clean the channel. Wipe the channel dry so the new adhesive backing bonds properly.
- Seat the new rail seal. Press the new seal into the channel starting from one end, working it in evenly.
- Install the tailgate seal. Apply the tailgate seal strip along the tailgate edge per the included guide.
- Test the fit. Close the cover and check that it compresses the new seals evenly along the full length.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my seals need replacing?
If the rubber feels stiff, is visibly cracked, or you’ve noticed water getting into the bed after rain, it’s time to replace the seals. Seals typically last several years but degrade faster with heavy sun exposure.
Will this fit my specific cover style?
This kit is sized for the standard rail and tailgate seal channel used across the Airplex hard folding, soft roll-up, retractable, low profile, and hinged covers. Email us your cover model if you want to confirm before ordering.
Do I need any tools to install it?
No. Both seals use an adhesive backing that presses directly into the existing channel — no drilling, cutting, or special tools required.
How long does the new seal last?
EPDM rubber is the same compound used in automotive weatherstripping and typically holds up for several years of regular outdoor exposure before it needs replacing again.
